However, for most people—who have done both good and evil in their lives—the spirit travels to Reikai (the spiritual world in Japanese mythology) and face many tests by the gods of the dead, walking through the Kami Kaido (The road of gods) , A hero spirit must prove its value purifying the road defeating the evil Yokais (spiritual creatures in Japanese folklore) to finally have an audience with the great King Emma, so they are sent either to Tengoku or Jigoku. Reikai is a terrible place—though nowhere near as terrible as Jigoku. It is dark, windy, and full of horrible sights, creatures, sounds, tests and trials. It is a long journey, with no place to rest or find comfort.
